Last year, the Working Waterfront Coalition (WWC) held the first annual Industry&Art juried art competition and sale. Professional artists from the Pacific Northwest showcased over 40 pieces of art. These were augmented by talented employee artists of WWC companies who created a dynamic show within a show and helped us all appreciate the close synergy between industry, skilled craftsmanship and art. Together professional and amateur artists provided a uniquely beautiful glimpse into the people and industries of the working waterfront community.
The event was a great success. Over $40,000 in artwork was sold, with $25,000 raised for critical job training programs and habitat restoration. This year’s event promises to be even better as we “CELEBRATE THE WORKER.”
The 2nd Annual Industry&Art juried competition and exhibition is open to artists currently living in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana. The 2012 exhibition will feature artwork that captures and celebrates the people who work in waterfront industries as well as the surrounding natural and industrial settings of their working environments.
